Your website is often the first impression a new customer gets of your business. If it's letting you down, you may be losing enquiries without ever knowing. Here are five signs it's time for a change.
1. It's hard to use on a phone
Most people will find you on their phone. If they have to pinch and zoom to read your text, or tap tiny buttons, many will give up and try the next business in the search results. Open your site on your own phone and be honest about how it feels.
2. It's slow to load
People expect pages to appear almost instantly. A slow site loses visitors before they've seen anything, and speed is one of the things search engines look at too. Oversized images and outdated code are the usual culprits.
3. You can't update it yourself
If changing your opening hours or adding a new service means emailing someone and waiting, your website quickly goes out of date. A good website lets you make everyday changes yourself in a few minutes.
4. It doesn't bring in enquiries
A website should work like a member of your team. If visitors arrive but don't get in touch, check whether each page makes it obvious what you do, who it's for and what to do next. A clear button to call, book or get a quote makes a real difference.
5. It no longer looks like you
Businesses change. If your website still shows old services, old prices, old photos or an old logo, it's telling customers a story that isn't true any more. That can cost you trust before you've even spoken.
What to do next
If you ticked two or more, it's worth looking at a new website. It doesn't have to be expensive or slow: our Starter websites are £300 + VAT for up to 15 pages and usually go live in about two weeks. Have a look at our packages, or read how much a website costs in the UK.
